Tap the Craft Podcast Glassware Order

So I am happy in February we hit our Patreon goal of $50 per month in total support. This goal was linked to gifting our $5 and above supporters a custom Tap the Craft Podcast beer glass.

I have prepared a new logo design just for this special glassware giveaway, but we can save some money by ordering at least 24 glasses in our order (even more if we order 36+).

So we are offering the opportunity for our listeners to purchase these glasses during the bulk order.

I have chosen my favorite glass style…the Willi Becher 21.5oz clear glass. The logo will be imprinted with WHITE ink. The mock up glass shows BLACK ink just so you can see the logo against the white background of the glass image.

The cost will depend on how many glasses are ordered and the shipping cost will have to be calculated once they arrive to my location and the expense getting them to you. I believe the most would be $6 for the glass and $10 for the shipping…so at most $16 for one and $22 for two!

So send us an email (tapthecraft@gmail.com) with the number of glasses you would like and we will keep you informed of the order status and let you know the final cost of your purchase and how to send us your payment.

At this time I would not expect the glasses to be ready before mid-March…it all depends on how fast the order gets filled (minimum order 24 glasses). 36 glasses will reduce the cost per glass by $1

So show off your love of the show by drinking from a custom TTC Podcast beer glass!

GrabOpener One Handed Grab Opener

John gave me one of these openers about 7 years ago and it is my favorite…and the one I have used for 90% of my bottle openings since getting it. This one is especially good if you are saving bottle caps because it does not damage them…they are in pristine condition for any of your bottle caps projects.

Craft Beer Playing Cards

Almost everyone enjoys playing some kind of card game, so why not celebrate great craft beer breweries while doing it!

The Craft Beer Deck features 53 Original Card Faces Each with a Different Craft Brewery Logo. Each of the fifty-three breweries profiled on the card faces epitomize what we love about craft beer. From all around the United States, these are genuine American entrepreneurs. Their passion is dedicated to the innovative full-flavored beers that they make. This deck of cards is dedicated to those that love their local brews, and the people behind them.

Under the Tree

We love using our BCUPS for all our drinking, but especially for those outdoor activities. We talk about them all the time on the show, so you know they are a worthy product.

There are four styles to choose from and each box contains four cups.

This is a Tap the Craft Podcast recommended buy this holiday season.

The Beer Bible

This is a book I still need to read. I have listened to Jeff Alworth on his podcast Beervana for many years and I enjoy hearing his take and knowledge on beer.

The Complete Beer Course: Boot Camp for Beer Geeks: From Novice to Expert in Twelve Tasting Classes

I was given this book (physical hardback version) as a gift many years ago, and even as a well experienced craft beer drinker, I was able to find a lot of good information and knowledge I did not know. A really good read for anyone new to craft beer.

How To Brew: Everything You Need to Know to Brew Great Beer Every Time

From what I have heard, this is one of the books you need to own if you are serious about learning to homebrew. The perfect gift to go along with that first homebrew kit.

Brewing Classic Styles: 80 Winning Recipes Anyone Can Brew

From what I have heard, this is another one of the books you need to own if you are serious about learning to homebrew. The perfect gift to go along with that first homebrew kit.

Rustic Vintage Wood Plaque Beer Opener

Everyone needs a bottle opener for the patio or man cave where you and your friends can open your bottled beers and have the caps fall into a bucket for disposal later, or to save for your next bottle cap art or project.

Insulated Growlers

Especially during COVID times, you need a way to transport your local craft beer home. So grab an insulated growler to keep the beer safe and fresh during your travels.

Beer Mustard

For the foodie in your life, some mustard made with craft beer.

Sierra Nevada Mustard 3-Flavor Variety: One 8 oz Jar Each of Pale Ale & Honey Spice, Porter & Spicy Brown, and Stout & Stoneground in a BlackTie Box

Stone Brewing 3-Flavor Variety: One 8 oz Jar Each of Delicious IPA Dijon, Pale Ale Ground Mustard with Chipotle Peppers and IPA Whole Grain

Unlabeled - The Blind Beer Tasting Board Game: Put Your Taste Buds to The Test and Play at Home or at The bar!

Here is a fun way to enjoy beer and play a game testing your knowledge on beer. I like the idea of taking it to the brewery and ordering up some blind lights and playing with your friends or just your partner.

Libbey Craft Brews Assorted Beer Glasses

I bought this set of glasses for a friend who was just getting started with craft beer. It is nice to have glasses made for the style of beer you are drinking.

State Beer Cap Map

I know it is getting harder to find beer in bottles, but there are still a lot of breweries out there that bottle. So let your special someone collect some caps and show off their favorites in a state shaped map.

So You Want to Start a Brewery?: The Lagunitas Story

On Ep166 I told the story behind how the Lagunitas Brown Shugga beer was born…basically a potential disaster that was turned into a great beer. I learned about this story by reading Tony Magee’s book, “So You Want to Start a Brewery?: The Lagunitas Story.”

On Ep166 I told the story behind how the Lagunitas Brown Shugga beer was born…basically a potential disaster that was turned into a great beer. I learned about this story by reading Tony Magee’s book, “So You Want to Start a Brewery?: The Lagunitas Story.” This book was published on Oct1, 2014 and according to Amazon, I purchased it on Apr 14, 2015. It is only about 225 pages and I read it completely on one of my flights to Israel.

At the time I read the book, Lagunitas Brewing was my favorite brewery. They were producing great beer that stood out among the 2500+ craft breweries at the time. I really enjoyed reading about how Tony started the brewery and all the stories behind the different beers. I think I’ll read it again just because it has been 5 years and I love good stories.

Amazon describes the book as…

So You Want to Start a Brewery? is the first-person account of Tony Magee’s gut-wrenching challenges and heart-warming successes in founding Lagunitas Brewing Company. In just 20 years, the company has grown from a seat-of-the-pants, one-man operation to be the fifth largest—and the fastest-growing—craft brewer in the United States. This equal part memoir, narrative, and business story is an illuminating yet hilarious account anchored strongly in time and place as a one-of-a-kind, made-in-America journey that culminates with the success of one of the nation’s most popular and enduring craft beer brands.

You can purchase the book on Amazon in paperback, Kindle or Audible form using our Amazon Associates link and help support the show with your purchase.

Starting new things...

It’s the day before Thanksgiving and I have a lot of things to be thankful for this year…even though 2020 has been the toughest year for a lot of people. Kris and I have been doing a lot new things for the show…for one we created this website (work still in progress), we started a Patreon campaign (so thankful for all the support from our community), we started a YouTube channel and have been producing videos (so much work, but fun) and most recently we started a second podcast collaboration with the guys from the Fermented Reality Biergarten in Tampa, FL (long time listeners will remember they were a sponsor of the show providing our listeners a chance to win a set of BCUPS).

It’s the start up of this new podcast that I wanted to write about today. Starting a new thing is tough…especially when it is not necessarily your own thing…and you are an engineer with tendencies of over analyzing and trying to be too perfect. I had ideas in my head of what the new show would be (given the feedback from one of the owners of the biergarten) and prepared ideas and outlines to structure the show for success.

Let’s say the first episode recording was an eye opener…the outline was out the window and chaos commenced. I was a bit shocked and concerned…but I quickly adapted to the idea that the show will be completely different than I had worked out in my head. I was able to piece together a pretty decent show and identified a few technical issues that we could resolve.

The second show wasn’t without a few technical snafu’s, but the content was solid…but again I had to do some editing magic behind the scenes to cut down the 3+ hours of content into a 2 hour show. Kris decided we would record the video and put it up as well. I am not a guy that likes to be in front of a camera. One thing most people don’t know is I have to work at speaking clearly and without a stutter. My mind is much faster than my mouth and I have to focus to slow things down and make everything come out clear. One of my coping mechanisms to get through it is to close my eyes to focus on the words when I feel like it is getting out of control. The more I drink the harder it becomes and the more I need to gain back control of my speech. With this being said, I am a bit self-conscious when I see myself doing it on video.

We will release the audio for EP3 tomorrow morning, but today Kris released a portion of the recording session video. I had already completed the audio edit and listened to the show in its entirety and felt we really made a huge improvement in the flow of content and with each other. It required very little editing and there were no audio sound issues. Amazing how quickly we went from complete chaos to a very well done content episode…without much content preparation. We had decided on 4 main topics and then just free flowed through the execution.

What I really enjoyed the most was watching the video of 3/4 of the content. This really shows the flow and interactions of hosts and had some funny parts that were even funnier seeing it unravel in front of us. If you have the opportunity, I suggest watching the video to get a behinds the scenes look at making a podcast with 5 hosts.

I am thankful for my very supportive family, for my good friend Kris who on many occasions made my day (and even week) this year more enjoyable, for our wonderful listeners and community who continuously surprise me with their support and interactions and for 2020 coming to an end and for 2021 to be a better year.

Cheers!

Denny
